Édouard Manet 'The Soap Bubble'

This etching depicts a boy blowing a bubble which he holds a small dish of bubble soap. Manet used quick hatch marks to shape the boys body and fill in the background. The directionality of the hatches creates the volume of the boy's body, giving him life.
